Best sites to check weight prices (including ours)
We run Weight Prices, so take the first entry with that in mind. The rest of the list is what we use ourselves when our own tables do not answer the question, and we have tried to describe each one by what it actually does as of 2026-08-19.

Weight Prices
Our tables list new weights from US retailers sorted by price per pound, one row per listing, each dated. At the moment that is 71 listings from 8 sellers across five categories. We do not cover the used market, racks, bars, or benches, and we do not track shipping. Product links are affiliate links and that is how the site is funded; sort order is by price per pound and nothing else. The about page has the method.
Google Shopping
The widest net. Google's price insights label a listing's price as low, typical, or high against the product's recent history and flag a 30-day low, which is a useful second opinion on a specific SKU. What it does not do is normalize across package sizes: a 45 lb pair and a 35 lb pair sit side by side on sticker price, and sorting by price puts the lightest item first. Use it to check one product, not to rank a category.
camelcamelcamel
Free Amazon price history and drop alerts, with a browser extension that draws the history chart on the Amazon page. Weights on Amazon move in price more than at the specialist retailers, and the chart shows whether today's number is a sale or the normal price. Amazon only.
Garage Gym Reviews and Two Rep Cave
Both are review sites with affiliate relationships, disclosed on-page. Garage Gym Reviews keeps a deals page that lists current codes and sales by category, dumbbells and kettlebells included. Two Rep Cave writes comparison guides with budget tiers (plates, dumbbells, bars, racks). Neither computes price per pound, so they answer "is this good" and we answer "is this cheap"; the two questions go together.
r/homegym
The subreddit restricts sale links and buy-sell posts, so it is not a deals feed. Its value is the FAQ and the weekly questions thread, where people will tell you what a fair used price is in your area. The FAQ's rule of thumb for used Olympic iron in the US is around $0.50/lb, with used bumpers near $1.60/lb; compare that with the new-price ranges on our how to compare page and the used market looks very good for iron and less compelling for bumpers.
Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, eBay
For plates and fixed dumbbells, used is usually the cheapest per pound by a wide margin, and iron does not wear out. The trade is time: set a keyword alert, wait, and bring a scale if the seller's weights are unmarked. Kettlebells and adjustables come up less often and hold their value better.
How to use them together
- Check the used market first if you have the patience and the truck.
- For new, sort by price per pound on our category table to shortlist.
- Check the shortlisted listings against camelcamelcamel (Amazon) or Google's price insight to see whether today's price is normal.
- Read a review of the finalist on Garage Gym Reviews or Two Rep Cave.
- Put two or three in carts with your address and compare the shipped total; our retailer comparison has each seller's shipping and return rules.
